After completing her medical degree and a residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Dr. Takita moved to US with her family. She successfully completed a Radiation Oncology Residency at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis, one of the top 5 residency training in radiation. Dr. Takita is a board certified Radiation Oncologist by the American Board of Radiology. She actively participates in the clinical research at the UM, and is a Principal Investigator in several studies open through the Cancer Center. She is a member of several national organizations, such as American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American College of Radiology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, etc. She was given the UM/Sylvester Service Excellence Award in 2002 for providing outstanding customer service. Dr. Takita main subspecialty is in breast radiation oncology. She has being nominated Co-Leader of the Breast Site Disease Group at the UM/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Dr. Takita is married to Dr. Alves, a hematologist/oncologist and has two lovely sons, Andre and Luca.
