Our social worker |
Research has shown a connection between the mind and body in recovering and maintaining health. Emotional stability, a positive attitude, and social support play a vital role in restoring and maintaining physical well-being. We offer a number of support services that can help you with the physical and emotional stress associated with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
As the department’s social worker, I work jointly with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, therapists, physicists, and other clinical staff to deliver excellent patient care. When we meet, I will assess your needs and help you and your loved ones obtain the resources available within our facility and in the community. Below are some of the many services we provide:
- Assistance with lodging, medical equipment, transportation to and from treatment, and advance directives (living wills/medical surrogate)
- Advocate for financial or medical benefits
- Collaborate and consult with hospital staff and community agencies
- Arrange post-treatment care
- Arrange visits from clergy
- Brief supportive counseling
- Referrals to: Nutritionist
Support groups
Mental health professionals
Social Security Disability
Programs that offer financial assistance
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you during these challenging times.
