Biography
Perry Johnson, Ph.D. earned his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2011 specializing in medical physics. He next completed a residency in therapy medical physics at the MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando. After finishing his residency in 2013, Dr. Johnson joined the faculty in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami. Dr. Johnson is widely involved within the clinic and provides specialized coverage for stereotactic radiosurgery, brachytherapy, image registration, and protocol support. Dr. Johnson holds an affiliated faculty appointment in the Biomedical Engineering Department and teaches the clinical rotation course within the medical physics graduate program. Dr. Johnson also routinely provides lectures for both the medical physics and radiation oncology residency programs. A primary area of interest for Dr. Johnson is patient safety and he serves on number of committees related to error prevention including the Continuing Quality Improvement committee at UM, the Work Group for the Prevention of Errors through the AAPM and TG275 – Strategies for Effective Physics Plan and Chart Review in Radiation Therapy. Dr. Johnson has published many peer-reviewed journal articles and serves as a reviewer for the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, and Physics, the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Medical Physics, and Frontiers in Oncology. Dr. Johnson is board certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics and is licensed by the state of Florida as an authorized medical physicist.
