Irene Monterroso received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Miami, College of Engineering, and graduated from the Biomedical Engineering Medical Physics graduate program in 2008. After completing her M.S., she worked at the Cyberknife Center of Miami as a junior medical physicist until joining the faculty of the University of Miami’s Radiation Oncology department in 2012. Her primary area of interest is stereotactic radiosurgery and radiotherapy, and she is currently lead of the physics stereotactic service in her department. In addition to this, she is an authorized user for Gamma Knife and high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy, and provides physics support in all areas of the clinic. Irene Monterroso has also co-authored several peer-reviewed articles and abstracts, and is part of the teaching faculty for the Medical Physics and Radiation Oncology residency programs at UM.
