Dr. de la Zerda worked for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Radiation Physics division of the Environmental Measurements Laboratory (EML) in New York, N.Y. from 1983 until 1990 under the directorship of Prof. Keran O’Brien. He joined the Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) in Detroit in 1990 to work with Dr. Sou-Tung Chiu-Tsao on NIH-funded research on eye plaque micro-dosimetry, and became a senior medical physicist in HFHS’s Department of Radiation Oncology in 1995. In 2005 Dr. de la Zerda joined the faculty of the University of Miami as a senior medical physicist in Radiation Oncology. He has co-authored some 15 peer-reviewed journal papers and book chapters, and some 30 abstracts. He has served as reviewer for the Radiotherapy & Oncology Journal and is presently a review editor of the on-line open access Frontiers in Oncology (http://journal.frontiersin.org/journal/oncology).
